New Zealand soldiers perform a HAKA after working for weeks to contain fires on Kangaroo Island


Engineers from the New Zealand army have bid their Australian counterparts an emotional farewell after spending weeks working helping fight bushfires. Colonel Don Hogben from the Australian Army said the soldiers also gave the local council a flag to be flown at the New Zealand war memorial in Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. On Kangaroo Island the joint task force was responsible for clearing roads, removing damaged fences, debris and trees and fixing sign posts. Bushfires in South Australia claimed three lives - including a father and son on Kangaroo Island.
