Years after Boko Haram insurgents have been terrorising the North-East of Nigeria, armed bandits are now having free reign in the North-West of the country. In addition, it is evident that Boko Haram aims to consolidate its influence in locations beyond the northeast. Currently, the Boko Haram crisis is already a regional problem for the countries in the Lake Chad Basin- Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria. The current administration has failed to fulfil the promises it made to Nigerian citizens before the last presidential election. These promises included revamping the economy and tackling corruption but also addressing insecurity caused by Boko Haram and other criminal actors.
