The Shaheed Minar, a boundary wall, and a number of trees of Sher E Bangla High School in Bidyanagar have collapsed due to the continued gas pressure. Zahra Begum, resident of a house next to the school, said, “The gas along with sand began to spew from a tube well pit since Wednesday morning. I do not know what to do.”Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration (Bapex) General Manager Alamgir Hossain visited the gas leak site and said that they collected samples for analysis. At 540ft it might just be methane or a gas pocket. However, we will monitor the site for the next 10-15 days and formulate the next plan of action.”
