One person is dead after a truck and ute collided on a one-way bridge in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough, early today. It happened on the bridge over the Wairau River on State Highway 63 at about 1.30am. Both vehicles caught fire and two fire engines were called to the scene. Two people in the truck were taken away by ambulance. The bridge is still closed, and drivers in the area are being told to expect delays.
