MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will remove six local government officials from its narco list, PDEA director general Aaron Aquino said yesterday. The list containing the names of 83 politicians will be brought down to 77 with the impending delisting of five mayors and one vice mayor. Aquino told a news briefing in Quezon City that the politicians would be returned to the narco list if their involvement in illegal drugs is verified. The four agencies that conducted the validation included the PDEA, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency. Aquino expects money from the illegal drug trade will be used by certain politicians running in the 2019 elections.
