KUALA LUMPUR (April 7): Malaysia must expedite its transition towards a more sustainable, diversified and cost-effective long-term energy strategy, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He said that the decisive shift in the energy strategy is not merely an environmental necessity but also imperative amid disruptions in global energy supply. Anwar said that global energy disruptions will affect energy prices, and the impact will reverberate across production systems, supply chains, and the daily cost of living in advanced and developing economies. He noted that the disruptions are causing a humanitarian crisis and a broader systemic shock, unsettling markets, disrupting supply chains and straining economic stability across continents. Anwar also added that Malaysia is not immune to disruptions in global energy supply, but remains firmly committed to safeguarding the well-being of Malaysians.
