Highlighting Ramadan as a month of restraint and compassion, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday urged traders to conduct business honestly and refrain from exploiting the holy month for profit. “Some individuals are turning Ramadan into a month of profit. Tarique Rahman said that, according to tradition, iftar gatherings are organized every Ramadan for people from different walks of life. “Although iftar gatherings in honor of scholars and orphans are usually held on the first day of Ramadan, this year’s event was slightly delayed due to practical circumstances,” he added. He noted that considering global conditions and the need to reduce expenditure on gas, electricity, and other sectors, only two iftar gatherings have been arranged this Ramadan.
