Mudiaga Affe, CalabarAn unidentified pregnant woman is suspected to have died of Lassa fever at the Intensive Care Unit of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital in Cross River State. Although, a hospital source denied that the woman died of Lassa fever, it was learnt that samples had been sent to a laboratory to ascertain whether it was Lassa fever that killed her. Asibong, who spoke from Abuja, said, “The late pregnant woman was transferred from the neighbouring Taraba State. But a source in the UCTH said it was not true that the pregnant woman died of Lassa fever. Although, we are waiting for the final report from the sample sent to the laboratory, it is unlikely it is Lassa fever.
