(Photo: Nutthawat Wichieanbut)The Department of Public Administration has blocked the People’s Party (PP) from using its digital ID verification system, after the party's membership database was hacked. The action complied with relevant laws to protect people’s confidence in the privacy of their personal data, the department said. Also, people whose personal data had been abused could file complaints and demand compensation for possible offences including fraud, computer crime and document-related violation. For their own protection, affected people could apply for new ID cards with new laser ID codes on the back.
