KOTA BARU: Perikatan secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said Perikatan will regard MIC as having rejected its offer to join the coalition if no official response is received soon. Takiyuddin said MIC, through its president, had sent an official letter dated Nov 15, 2025 to then Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, applying to join Perikatan. He added that MIC’s move does not weaken Perikatan, noting the coalition previously won 74 parliamentary seats without MIC’s involvement. Takiyuddin also said Perikatan has received applications from several other political parties interested in joining the coalition, which are now being reviewed. On March 17, Sinar Harian reported that MIC had yet to make a final decision on joining Perikatan.
