Person tested positive for KFD infection dies


A 29-year-old youth from Tirthahalli taluk, who tested positive for Kyasanur Forest Disease (KSD) virus, died in a hospital in Udupi district on January 28. The test results, on January 23, confirmed the KFD viral infection. Kyasanur Forest Disease, a viral infection, is also known as monkey fever, as monkeys also get infected. The people who visit forest areas to graze cattle or collect firewood are vulnerable to the infection. Shivamogga district administration has been conducting an awareness campaign in areas bordering the forest to avoid the infection.
