Power for all

Photo: BIGSTOCKOur nation must think long-term, and that means turning to clean, renewable sources of energyWith rapid economic growth, industrialization, and urbanization comes the need for increased electricity coverage. Under this vision, around 1.95 million new client connections will be installed, and the cost will be somewhere in the neighbourhood of Tk8,000 crore. There is no denying that powering the nation is a great need of our economy, which is growing at a tremendous pace, and power is the buttress upon which national development can take place; to that end, it is good to see that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is taking steps to meet our energy goals. Despite recent strides towards prosperity, a large portion of our population still has no access to electricity, and without the right measures, this population will rise in the coming years. Ultimately, our nation must think long-term, and that means turning to clean, renewable sources of energy, which goes in line with our development goals.
