When contacted, Gosairhat upazila Awami League President Shahjahan Shikder denied the allegations of ruling party involvement in the attack. Awami League candidate from Joypurhat 1constituency Shamsul Alam Dudu, also the district unit Awami League president, said Jammat-Shibir men may be involved in the attack. In Sunamganj, an Awami League election campaign office was torched by miscreants. The office was set ablaze in the early morning, at Ujanlalpur village in Jamalganj upazila’s Sadar union, claimed Awami League leaders. The district unit BNP Joint Organizing Secretary Mominul Haque blamed Awami League supporters over the incident.
