President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call Saturday 7/3/2026 from Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus. The official spokesperson for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed al-Shennawy, stated that the call addressed the latest regional developments. President al-Sisi stressed the importance of containing the current escalation in the region, reaffirming Egypt’s consistent position calling for resolving crises through peaceful means and sparing the peoples of the region further tension and instability, in order to safeguard their resources and future. He warned of the negative economic repercussions of continued escalation at both the regional and international levels, noting the intensive contacts Egypt is conducting with various parties to contain tension and escalation. The spokesperson added that the Cypriot President praised Egypt’s efforts to de-escalate tensions, affirming his country’s keenness to continue close consultations with Egypt and exchange views on regional developments and ways to reduce tensions.
