Puppy import ban petition reaches Parliament for debate after Mirror campaign

Thousands of readers signed an e-petition demanding a block on bringing young dogs to the UK from abroad – helping the petition hit its 100,000 target in just six weeks. Our drive aims to raise the import age of pups from 15 weeks to six months. RSPCA head of public affairs David Bowles said: “We share the public’s concerns around puppy imports. However, it cautions against a “blanket ban on the importation of all dogs under the age of six months”. MPs will spend 90 minutes debating a series of measures to protect animals, including the call to Ban Puppy Imports, and crackdowns on shark finning and dog ear cropping.
