Most of the money will fund a new center for research, education and treatment of addiction and pain at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa. The addiction center would be housed at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Wellness and Recovery and would be overseen by an independent board. According to a lawsuit filed by the state of Massachusetts, Sackler family members received nearly $4.3 billion in payouts from Purdue between 2008 and 2016.
