Eric Bellquist was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, but on Saturday police said he had now been eliminated from the inquiry. Bellquist’s lawyers said he had irrefutable proof that he was in the US at the time of the incident, which happened on Putney Bridge in west London on 5 May. Police have renewed their search for the jogger, described as a white man aged early to mid 30s, with brown eyes and short brown hair.
