Qantas suspends all flights to and from China amid coronavirus fears

Qantas will stop flying in and out of mainland China due to travel bans imposed amid the outbreak of deadly coronavirus. Australia's national carrier announced on Saturday they would suspend their two direct services to mainland China - Sydney to Beijing and Sydney to Shanghai - from Sunday February 9 until March 29, 2020. In a statement, Qantas said the pause in services reflected the impact of international travel bans on crew logistics across the broader network. 'These entry restrictions pose significant logistical challenges for rostering crew to operate mainland China services, leading to the need to temporarily suspend these flights. There are no changes to Qantas' Hong Kong services as they are not affected by the travel restrictions.
