This is alleged to have thrown the Royal Family's traditional Christmas plans into turmoil. A source said: "Patricia Earl has retired after 32 years of valued service on the Sandringham Estate. This will be the first time in 32 years that the Queen and Philip will not be at Sandringham for the holiday season. In normal years, the royals would attend a Christmas Day service at nearby St Mary Magdalene Church. Prince Charles, 72, and Camilla, 73, will spend Christmas Day at their Highgrove home in Gloucestershire.
