The Plant founders Matt Hellriegel and Tatiana Martzova in their new space, an old clothing store come “music lounge”, in Blenheim. Founders, or growers, Matt Hellriegel and partner Tatiana Martzova set up the Blenheim music venue in 2018, using it as a tempeh factory during the day. “It is just a nice little step up,” explained Hellriegel, who also moonlighted as drummer for alt-rock band Big Scout. “We both love music, and we were thinking that without a music scene it would be hard to live in Blenheim,” Hellriegel said. Wellington swamp rockers Bad Hagrid were headlining on their 'Here comes Haggy" tour, with Hellriegel’s band, Big Scout, supporting.
