Fittingly for a tournament so heavily branded by Guinness, Rob Herring is a fine example of their old marketing slogan - good things come to those who wait. "Any time you pull on an Ireland jersey there's that pressure and expectation to perform but the Six Nations is a massive tournament and playing at home this week (compared to before) there is a lot of buzz around it. There's a lot of competition within the squad and ultimately that's what makes you better, what drives the high standards. Nobody's place is safe and we're all sticking our hands up to try and get that number two jersey." Having waited quite so long for this opportunity, Herring will need little reminding of being the first man afforded the chance.
