SEF chief to 'actively pursue' China ties

His appointment fills a post left vacant since late May on the eve of President Tsai Ing-wen's inauguration. China has repeatedly insisted that the Tsai administration accept the "1992 Consensus," something the new government has refused to budge on. Tien said it was not up to the SEF to solve the impasse over the "1992 Consensus." Business Channels SoughtAdmitting that he has sparse ties with the Taiwanese business community operating in China, Tien is set to host a gathering of business representatives in Taichung on Wednesday, during which he hopes to exchange viewpoints, listen to business representatives' concerns and cultivate channels of communication with China.
