REGINA—After pushback from parents, students and educators the Saskatchewan government says it will take a second look at its decision to cut funding from an alternative school. Last week, the government eliminated more than $700,000 in funding from the Cornwall Alternative School in Regina. Education Minister Gord Wyant says not enough questions were asked about the school before the decision to cut its funding was made. The school says Cornwall was established in 1972 as a community response to poverty in Regina’s core areas that was affecting young people. Other organizations listed as supporting the school include the United Way, Regina Food Bank and Regina’s public and Catholic school boards.
