Palazzo Vecchio, the winery, not Florence’s city hall, sits atop a shallow hill in southern Tuscany, in the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG . She was born and bought up in Milan, then studied set design in Rome before moving to Palazzo Vecchio full-time five years ago where she’s now making lovely wine. Lovely Tuscan wine. Photo: Palazzo VecchioDespite its grand name, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the wines of this beautiful area don’t enjoy the stature of Tuscany’s better known regions, Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino. Montepulciano itself is a Medieval and Renaissance hilltop town as picture-postcard-perfect as any tourist agency could wish for.
