Arguments about people feeling intimidated by others drinking on the train don't really wash. No-one is using their train journey to get sloshed. And even if they weren't, is a ban that is being flouted regularly by others going to put them off? Those who would look to cause serious trouble don't care about a booze ban. I'm willing to wager not a single crime on the entire rail network has been prevented by the ban. Instead, the SNP is effecting a blanket punishment as they look for easy solutions and headlines to difficult problems like anti-social behaviour.
