Scotland Excel's efforts to steer councils on reducing emissions bear fruit
As such, environmental impact has been a continual focus, though in the early years it had more to do with reducing waste and encouraging reuse and recycling. Scotland Excel was set up in 2008, as a direct result of the McClelland review of local government spending. On reducing transport emissions, Scotland Excel works to bring more local suppliers into framework contracts, thus reducing transport miles.
