During a joint sitting of MPs held for the cabinet's policy statement under Section 162 of the charter, Sen Nantana criticised the government for failing to include constitutional reform in its policy platform, despite a referendum in which 21 million voters reportedly backed the drafting of a new code of law. More than 60% of the public has clearly expressed its intention that the constitution must be amended. The government has a duty to act in accordance with the referendum result," she said. The session, chaired by Parliament President Sophon Zaram, featured alternating speeches from opposition MPs, coalition MPs and senators.
