DHAKA : According to Bangladeshi media, the swearing-in ceremony of the new government will invite heads of governments from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member states, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Dhaka Tribune reported that Tarique Rahman will take oath as prime minister on February 17, with the ceremony being organised by the caretaker government. Following a clear majority in the 13th national parliamentary elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has formally initiated the process of forming a new government. Preparations are underway to invite heads of governments from SAARC member states as well as Middle Eastern countries to attend the ceremony. According to party sources, BNP aims to signal its diplomatic priorities and strengthen regional cooperation by ensuring the participation of foreign dignitaries at the event.
