A proposal in South Africa to allow women to have multiple husbands has led to uproar among the conservative section of the country’s society. The polyandry proposal is one among the many in the green paper which seeks to make marriage more inclusive. The government has invited comments on the green paper till June 30. The government said that the green paper is based on extensive research and consultation, and the process began in 2019. South Africa has one of the most liberal constitutions and allows polygamy.
