St. John's was enveloped by another blast of winter on Saturday, along with the rest of the Avalon Peninsula and the Burin Peninsula. The yellow storm warning from Environment Canada landed on schedule as the province's capital city and surrounding areas woke up to a blanket of snow, which intensified through the afternoon. And while much of Canada is welcoming spring-like weather with heavy rain, April in Newfoundland felt more like the depth of January, with people skiing down roads in St. John's and snowplows battling thick accumulation.
