more-inThe Kozhikode Corporation is aiming to make the city free of cervical and breast cancers by 2022, according to Mayor Thottathil Raveendran. Seeking expert treatmentJeevanam is a project launched in 2012 under the Kudumbasree CDS of the corporation to help its members to identify cancer cases and to seek expert treatment. Twenty persons were provided treatment in the first phase while 10 were referred to the Regional Cancer Centre for expert treatment. Meanwhile, the corporation has set aside ₹75 lakh for the fourth phase of Jeevanam. A permanent help desk, recreation centre for patients under palliative care, besides the Detection and Rehabilitation Centre are being planned in the fourth phase.
