The S&P 500 edged higher Tuesday, putting the broad index on pace to close a fifth consecutive session higher, as investors continued to support a year-end rally. The S&P 500 added 0.1% in recent trading as shares of utilities and consumer discretionary stocks led Tuesday’s advance. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also traded higher after bobbling around the flatline earlier in the session. The Nasdaq Composite slipped less than 0.1%.
