(Police photo)SONGKHLA - The two prime suspects in the murder of a candidate in a local election have been arrested and handed over to Provincial Police Region 9 for further legal proceedings after admitting to the crime, police said on Sunday. The accused hitman, Thanpisit Panjasuwan, 48, was arrested along with his driver, Lt Witthawat Boonsanong, 41, for the murder of Phayom Sangthong, 64, ahead of the tambon Tha Chamuang administrative organisation chairman's election in Rattaphum district. Lt Witthawat was arrested at a shopping mall in Muang district, Nakhon Nayok, and Mr Thanpisit was apprehended at his home in Mae Taeng district of Chiang Mai on Saturday. During initial questioning, the two suspects allegedly confessed to the charges, so they were handed over to Provincial Police Region 9 to face charges and further interrogation.
