Wayne Laurie has been successful in several sports and some of the best moments have been with his racehorse Orepuki Lad. One of those occasions was on Saturday when Laurie and fellow members of the Ten Deep Syndicate cheered Orepuki Lad to victory in the $40,000 Ballie & Lewis Pharmacy Invercargill Gold Cup. “We had a few Woodstocks [afterwards].”It was the second time Orepuki Lad had won the cup after being successful in 2019. Ferguson, who has been involved in racing for 40 years, bred Orepuki Lad (six wins) and his mother, The Star Gazer (three wins). The Eades have won the Invercargill Cup three times in the past five years.
