TAT eyes Olympic dividend

A billboard in Hibiya, Tokyo promotes the Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer in Japan. Sports tourism is a focus for TAT and it wants to capitalise on Japanese visitors keen to spend their holidays doing healthy activities. Seksan Sripraiwan, director of TAT's Tokyo office, said Chiang Mai, which boasts plenty of local activities, is a preferred destination among Japanese long-stay tourists. Siam Country Club Pattaya Golf Course, Panya Indra Golf Club and Muang Ake Golf Club are popular among Japanese tourists. Normally Japanese visitors spend about 6,000 baht per day, but golfers are likely to spend 7,000 baht per day for additional health and wellness services.
