TPLF Concludes 13th Congress with No Substantive ChangesOctober 1, 2018 - The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) concluded its 13th organizational congress today, held in Mekelle city. The congress has expanded its central committe and elected 55 members of the Central Committee, instead of the usual 45. The organization has also expanded its Executive Committe (Polit Bureau) to 11, up from 9. The 13th TPLF conference also retired 12 former senior officials with honor, including Abay Woldu, Kidusan Nega, Gebremeskel Tarekegn, Michael Abreha, Gobezay Woldearegay, Isayas Woldegiorgis, Nega Berhe, Tewoldebirhan Tesfalem, Mamo Gebreegizabher, Goytom Yibrah, Haile Asifiha and Kiros Bitew. In substantive terms, and disregarding the rhetoric, the TPLF is essentially exactly where it was before it started its 13th general meeting.
