Dutch navigation technology company TomTom has released the results of its latest Traffic Index which provides statistics and information about congestion levels in 403 cities across 56 countries. Over the past decade, traffic congestion has continued to increase globally with nearly 75% of the cities in the index reporting increased or stable congestion levels between 2017 and 2018. Bogota, Colombia's capital, comes second in the rankings with 63% congestion while Lima in Peru comes third with 57%. India is present once again at number four with the capital city of New Delhi also struggling with 58% congestion. Outside the top-15 cities that are visualized on the following infographic, Los Angeles has the worst congestion levels in the United States according to TomTom at 41%, followed by New York (36%) and San Francisco (34%).
