Thousands in Yemen protest Saudi-led airstrike that killed over 140 people

Some protesters brandished automatic weapons and rebel supporters in the crowd called on people from the region to rise up and attack Saudi Arabia. Armed people demonstrate outside the United Nations offices against Saudi-led airstrikes on funeral hall in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen on Oct. 9. Mohammed Abdul-Salam, the Houthi spokesman in Sanaa, angrily denounced the airstrike as the latest act of “genocide” by the Saudi-led coalition. Saturday’s attack comes after a Saudi-led coalition March 15 airstrike on a market in Yemen’s northwestern city of Mastaba that killed at least 119 people. According to the report, coalition airstrikes were responsible for 60 per cent of civilian deaths over a yearlong span starting in July last year.
