A Taliban truck bomb aimed at a hotel used by foreign contractors rocked Kabul today, killing at least one policeman. One police officer was killed and three more were injured but no hotel staff or guests were hurt, according to Abdul Rahman Rahimi, the Kabul police chief, who announced the end… Three armed insurgents were killed in the raid on the heavily fortified Northgate hotel, which is close to the airport of the Afghan capital. Afghan special forces were called in after the attackers’ bomb blew a hole through the outer wall of the hotel, allowing the Taliban fighters access.
