Ticad meeting to help Kenya tap its academia to support industries


The Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development summit will provide Kenya an opportunity to learn the best practices on how industries,government and academia should be linked. “This is a major milestone and a boost towards achieving a more strategic partnership with Japan,” she said. State Department for University Education Principal secretary Professor Collette Suda said the summit set to be held between August 27 to 28 is valuable for the country tobenchmark best practice from Japanbased on its experiences. Suda made the remarks on Friday at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology when she addressed renowned industrialists, scholars and stakeholders drawn from Africa and Japanat the opening of the pre- event conferenceThe previous TICAD summits have been held outside Africa. Suda said the government is committed to support the partnerships between JKUAT and top universities in Japan adding that such partnerships will promote Science, technology and innovation to respond to the needs of the industry through full utilization of local knowledge, wisdom and resources in Africa.
