The NBA, trying to speed up the game and allow for more drama at game’s end, has cut timeouts in the final two minutes from three to two. “It speeds up the game, you have to be judicious with your timeouts toward the end of the game. Timeouts at almost every stoppage in play gave some games the flow of sludge. And if it makes for more enjoyable finishes to games, coaches who are fans will be all right with it. I want there to be less timeouts and for the games to go a little bit quicker, particularly at the end.
