Under the new rules, sports authorities, event organisers and the film and TV industry would need to follow “stringent protocols” to become exempt from the 14-day quarantine rule. The move comes after filming of the seventh and eighth instalments of Mission: Impossible stalled as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak and lockdown in the UK. Oliver Dowden, the Culture Secretary, spoke to Cruise last week about how the new exemption would allow filming of Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 to resume at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire. Major sporting events, as well as TV and film productions, are also to be given an exemption from the UK’s 14-day coronavirus travel quarantine.
