The leading outside group backing Senate Republicans as they try to retain control of the Senate in this year’s elections is touting its latest fundraising haul. Senate Leadership Fund – which is aligned with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell – reported on Thursday that it brought in $27 million last month. And while at least a half-dozen GOP seats are considered battlegrounds, Democrats are defending just one or two vulnerable incumbents. Senate Republicans' fortunes are also tied to President Trump – whose poll position in public opinion surveys has been nothing to brag about the past couple of months.
