Tourists lost in Karangahake Gorge foundGOOGLE MAPS Karangahake Gorge is a popular, historic walking track between the Coromandel and Kaimai Ranges. Two tourists who became lost in the dark on a walking track in the Karangahake Gorge have been found. Search and Rescue were called to look for a male tourist and his companion on Monday evening, Waikato Police Senior Sergeant Charles Burgess said. He man phoned police around 8pm to report he was lost in the bush off the gorge between Paeroa and Waihi. By 10.20pm SAR members had located two people and walked them out of the bush, Senior Sergeant Simon Cherry said on Tuesday morning.
