A 14–year–old boy on Friday died after drowning in Athi River Machakos County. Confirming the incident, Athi River South sub-county police commander Jos Mudavadi said the boy was in the company of two others heading home from grazing. The two managed to cross the seasonal river that was overflowing due to the heavy rains but SJ was swept away. Mudavadi said the scene was visited by Athi River police officers and DCI personnel and the body was moved to Shalom Hospital pending post-mortem. According to Kanini, the third boy who was together with them ran to inform the parents about the tragic accident.
