Trumpcare Could Lose Big In Tuesday's Georgia Special Election - News Summed Up

Trumpcare Could Lose Big In Tuesday's Georgia Special Election

A special election Tuesday in a conservative Georgia Congressional district could figure in the momentum Republicans have as they enter the homestretch of their attempt at repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act. Like Price, the Republican running to replace him, former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel, supports the American Health Care Act, also known as Trumpcare. The AHCA narrowly passed the House last month and faces another vote should the Senate come up with its own proposal, which is expected. The AHCA could spell trouble for the Republican, Handel, who supports Trumpcare and favors repeal and replacement of the ACA. But Georgia is one of the 19 states that hasn’t expanded Medicaid, which could be a wild card for voters in Tuesday’s election.
