Matt Pottinger has told British ministers that transatlantic intelligence sharing would be at risk if Huawei technology was used in the UK’s 5G networks. On the weekend, the head of MI5, Andrew Parker, said he saw “no reason to think” that using Huawei technology should threaten intelligence sharing with the US, suggesting that Britain was poised to give the Chinese company the go-ahead.
