The forest department has arrested a 60-year-old farm worker for killing two tigers at Emerald village in Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. A senior official from the Nilgiris Forest Department told indianexpress.com that two male tigers, aged 8 and 3 years, were found dead near Avalanche Dam on September 9 and forensic analysis confirmed that the tigers had consumed cattle meat laced with pesticides. According to forest officials, the detainee, named Sikar (60 years old), admitted that he sprayed insecticide on the carcass of his cow, which was mauled to death by tigers, as an act of revenge.
