Emmanuel Luke, a Liberian who is an Information Technology Instructor at Mid-Plains, bought the laptops at the college’s surplus computer auction in October for his home country, Liberia in order to boost the West African nation educational system. According to an online newspaper, The World-Herald, fourteen computers have done their jobs at Mid-Plains Community College, and now they will find new tasks in Liberia. The phased-out Dell laptops will be used for educational purposes in the West African nation. “The plan is to give them to Nimba County Community College,” said Matthew Gongbee, a founding member of the organization. “The laptops from MPCC will be a huge boost to the quality of education the college can provide.”Mid-Plains has several campuses, including in North Platte and McCook.
