US industrial technology company Acuity has celebrated the official opening of its new digital centre of excellence in Cork. Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Kevin O'Riordan, site lead at Acuity Cork, said hiring is already "well underway," with 30 staff members already working at the site since it announced the opening in September last year. "We also had an established relationship with IDA Ireland, which also helped us in choosing to locate in Cork." Atlanta-headquartered Acuity is divided into two segments, Acuity Brands Lighting and Acuity Intelligent Spaces. Speaking to the Irish Examiner last year, Neil Ashe, president and chief executive of Acuity said the new Cork site might one day expand to become the company's European headquarters.
